Very late maturing leek with good field holding ability. Defender is a great choice for over-wintering with very easy to clean dark foliage and long shanks. Strong against rust.

Best winter leek for us, grows dense shanks with very consistent quality through the field and stands up well to the winter cold in our 6a Canada climate. Upright leaf growth handles snow load with little bending and breaking of the leaves. Does best with a hilling regime to create long shanks.
