Catarino is a jumbo jalapeño that sets very thick-walled, dark green fruit with broad shoulders, typically 4–6" long and about 1.5" wide. Vigorous plants deliver a concentrated set with excellent shelf life and heavy fruit weight, offering strong yield potential across diverse regions. Heat is moderate at roughly 4,000–6,000 Scoville, and maturity is about 78 days from transplants. Harvest green or let fruit ripen to red. Intermediate resistance to bacterial leaf spot.
