Rutabaga Growing Information
Brassica napus
Direct Seed: Sow about 90 days before desired harvest. Soil temperature for germination is 55-75° F.
Spacing: Sow 2” apart. Thin to 6" apart, in rows that are 18-24" apart, at ½" depth.
Growth needs: Grow best in well-drained, loose soil. Row cover can be used at seeding to protect against pest. Best harvested after mild frosts.
Harvest: When at desired size, after a few frosts to ensure root’s sweetness.
Storage: Store without tops, either clean or dirty at 32° F at 95% relative humidity.
